Workshop on Human Food Interaction – Exploring intersection of HCI and Gastronomy

On March 22, 2025, the Creative Interfaces Lab brought a unique sensory experience to life at the School of Arts and Architecture, O.P. Jindal Global University. The hands-on workshop delved into the fascinating world of Human-Food Interaction (HFI) — where food meets design, storytelling, and immersive tech.

Participants explored how XR technologies, projection mapping, and physical computing can transform everyday eating into interactive, multi-sensory experiences. From visual narratives to gastronomical engagement, the workshop pushed boundaries of how we perceive and design around food.

Dr. Anmol Srivastava, Lab Director, offered an overview of the CI Lab’s ongoing work in HFI, setting the tone for creative exploration. Zubair, a PhD scholar, led live demonstrations in XR, while Vishal, an undergraduate researcher, showcased hands-on projects using TouchDesigner and physical computing.

We’re grateful to all the curious minds who participated, bringing fresh energy to the fusion of taste, technology, and tangible design. Stay tuned for more experiments and experiences from the Creative Interfaces Lab!
