The Creative Interfaces Lab is excited to announce its first funding for the project “Preserving Himachal Pradesh’s Cultural Legacy through AR and AI to Boost Cultural Tourism.” This initiative resulted from our participation in the Translational Research Workshop at IIT Mandi, where we collaborated with Magnimus Systems Pvt. Ltd. to explore innovative solutions for heritage preservation. With the theme ‘Collaborate, Complement, and Create,’ this workshop brought together researchers and industry experts to work on translational research challenges, fostering academia-industry partnerships that transform research into real-world impact.

During the workshop, discussions highlighted the critical need for integrating emerging technologies like AR and AI into cultural storytelling and tourism experiences. These conversations laid the foundation for our collaboration with Magnimus Systems Pvt. Ltd., ultimately leading to successful project funding by IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation.
By merging technology with tradition, this initiative aims to safeguard historical sites, folklore, and traditional art forms, making them more accessible and engaging for tourists and researchers alike. This funding marks a significant milestone for our lab’s Bharat-centric HCI design approach, showcasing how interdisciplinary collaboration can drive meaningful technological advancements in cultural preservation.
