Creative Interfaces Lab

Upcoming workshop – Dancing Threads: EmbroidARy workshop

The Creative Interfaces Lab at IIIT Delhi is organizing “Dancing Threads: EmbroidARy Workshop,” an experimental session where traditional craft meets emerging technology. The workshop is being organized in collaboration with Threaded by Ma, a creative initiative exploring contemporary expressions of hand embroidery.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of hand embroidery and explore how stitched designs can be extended into interactive digital experiences using Augmented Reality (AR). Through simple embroidery exercises, participants will create their own motifs and discover how craft practices can function as expressive and computational mediums. The workshop will then introduce ways to augment these handcrafted pieces with digital layers such as animation, sound, or visual storytelling using AR tools.

This workshop is part of the Art, Craft & Computation series, an initiative that explores the experimental and poetic intersections between creative mediums, traditional craft practices, and computational technologies, encouraging new forms of making where material craft and digital interaction come together.
