Courses
We believe in the transformative power of education and are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of designers. Our efforts in design education focus on developing innovative curricula, teaching methods, and educational tools that inspire and empower students. We strive to equip future designers with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-evolving technological landscape. The following core and elective courses are offered to the students:
DES531 Tangible User Interface
This course explores Tangible User Interfaces (TUI) and Interaction Design, emphasizing physical interaction with digital information beyond Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). It involves theoretical knowledge, hands-on activities, and project-based learning with physical prototyping in the CI Lab.
DES201 Design Processes and Perspectives
This course covers design processes for physical objects, human-computer interactions, and systems, focusing on observation, analysis, and visualization skills. It emphasizes problem-solving methods and user-focused thinking, helping students develop essential design thinking skills through projects.
DES527 User Experience Design of XR
This course covers UX design fundamentals for XR (Augmented/Virtual/Mixed Reality), focusing on human-centered design, 3D interactions, and interface design. It includes developing AR/VR applications using Unity, with a hands-on, project-based approach emphasizing prototyping, testing, and evaluation.
DES206 Prototyping Interactive Systems
This course on Prototyping Interactive Systems combines design and engineering skills to create physical prototypes. Students will engage in hands-on activities with materials and microcontrollers, culminating in a group project focused on a socially impactful solution, which will be showcased publicly.
