Thrilled to share that our project "Curtain UI: Augmenting Curtains for Tangible Interactions" has been accepted at SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 posters track! 🎉 Honored to bring our work on transforming everyday objects into interactive interfaces to this prestigious global stage.

This work explores how everyday objects, like curtains, can be transformed into interactive interfaces, pushing the boundaries of tangible interaction in new and innovative ways.

Conduced an online workshop on smart jewelry design for NIFT Mumbai students (Nov 08, 2024). Explored the exciting intersection of technology and fashion, focusing on how Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research can inspire innovative, tech-integrated jewelry concepts. The session provided a comprehensive look at conceptualizing and implementing smart jewelry ideas, guiding students in the use of Lo-Fi prototyping tools for effective design and ideation. Through hands-on learning, students discovered how to creatively blend wearable technology with aesthetics, positioning smart jewelry as a future-forward accessory trend.

🚀 Update!

Happy to share that our work, "ARoma: Augmented Reality Olfactory Menu Application," has been accepted as a short paper for poster presentation at India HCI 2024! 🎉

This study delves into the transformative potential of combining Augmented Reality with olfactory technology to elevate the dining experience. Through ARoma, users can explore dishes in 3D, access detailed ingredient information, and even experience the aroma of each dish via a specially prototyped olfaction device. This multi-sensory approach offers an immersive, engaging, and informative journey, particularly enhancing the appreciation of Indian cuisine.

This project was developed as part of the course User Experience Design of XR (DD527), under our lab. Kudos to the talented students @aarav.balachandran @praj_pics, and @_kritiiikaaa for their dedication and hard work!

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that our paper, "A Virtual Reality Approach to Overcome Glossophobia among University Students," has been accepted at ACM ISS 2024 and will be published in the prestigious Proceedings of ACM on HCI Journal!

This work explores the potential of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) to help alleviate Public Speaking Anxiety (PSA) among students. Through "Manch," our VR environment that simulates lifelike public speaking scenarios, we witnessed promising results, showing a significant reduction in PSA levels post-exposure. We hope this research contributes to further studies and interventions aimed at reducing social anxiety, particularly among university students.

Visited IIT Mandi for a three days workshop on Translational Research. It was great to interact and collaborate with fellow researchers and startup in the field of HCI. Also got to visit the Center for HCI. Amazed to see the work and facilities housed in it!

Check out these amazing sensors created from everyday objects. This work by @pzrth @agammdeep and @seaweedbrain810 explores innovative sensors and game controllers that can be made from everyday objects and materials such as cardboards, papers, aluminium foils, metal balls, etc. It highlights the potential of DIY based sensors to enable various forms of tangible and embodied interactions.

While this is still a #workinprogress, it is also one of the most interesting ideas that came out of the Prototyping Interactive Systems course held in Monsoon 2023.
